What does a glassmaker look like?

If you have questions about glass, a visit to the Museum will probably answer them. You can visit our galleries and see more than 3,500 years of glass from all over the world. You can watch glass being made by our gaffers at the Hot Glass Show, and make your own glass at The Studio. You can learn about the art, history, science, and technology of glass at The Rakow Research Library.

What did a glassmaker look like 50, 100, or 400 years ago? Our glass and library collections have many different depictions of glassblowers, artists, and factory workers. These range from 19th century advertisements for traveling flameworkers to 16th century engravings in technical manuals to 20th century glass objects. Find these and more on our Glassmakers in Art Pinterest board.

Explore all of our Pinterest boards to find blue glass, glass made at sea, and more.

The Rakow Research Library is open to the public 9am to 5pm every day. We encourage everyone to explore our collections in person or online. If you have questions or need help with your research, please use our Ask a Glass Question service.
