CMoG Summer Guide

Summer is … walks outside, swimming pools, picnics, warm days, and The Corning Museum of Glass. Yes, The Corning Museum of Glass is a great place to add to your list of summer plans. We’ve compiled a list of the top 10 reasons to visit the Museum this summer:

Photo: Iwan Baan10: Longer days mean there’s more natural daylight flooding the Contemporary Art + Design Galleries. The natural lighting brings out the best in the glass on display.

 

 

 

Be Microscopic9: The Revealing the Invisible exhibition at the Rakow Research Library tells the story of the exploration of the microscopic world from the 1600s through the 1800s. And you can take a #cellfie with the Be Microscopic interactive.

 

 

 

Glass sea slugs8: Who doesn’t love a sea slug? You can make your own adorable glass sea slug this summer during the Make Your Own Glass program.

 

 

 

Glass flowers in the Museum Shop7: Visit the Museum Shops to find items you can use to beautify your patio or deck – wind chimes, outdoor serving dishes, candle holders, and more.

Physophora magnificaSpeaking of sea creatures, you definitely don’t want to miss the Fragile Legacy exhibition. You will be wowed by the more than 70 glass models of sea creatures made by Leopold and Rudolf Blaschka in the late 19th and early 20th centuries.
